Borrow tools, kitchen equipment and event gear instead of buying them.
That is the idea behind a new lending scheme launched by Anamata, which is making a range of household, workshop and community items available for members to borrow.
Anamata describes the service as a “Library of Things”.
The aim is to give residents access to items they may only need occasionally without the cost of purchasing them.
“Think of it like a Tool Library, but broader. We have everything from tools and food dehydrators to sewing kits and event essentials — all available to loan.”
The organisation says sharing items across the community can reduce waste, save resources and help make better use of equipment that would otherwise sit unused.

“Instead of buying something you’ll rarely use, borrow it. Our library keeps items in circulation, shared and reused by the community whenever they’re needed — cutting down on waste, saving resources, and clearing the clutter from your home.”
Membership costs $20 a year until the end of August under an introductory offer. The standard annual membership fee is $50.
Members can borrow items on Wednesdays and Fridays and return them the following Wednesday.
“Pop in on a Wednesday or Friday to loan an item, then return it the following Wednesday. Simple as that.”
Anamata is also seeking donations to expand the range of items available.
“Got something gathering dust? We’d love to hear from you. The library will keep growing over time.”
The organisation said the project was based on the principle of sharing rarely used items across the community.
“We believe in using things, not owning them. By sharing rarely-used items across the community, we reduce waste, conserve resources, and return a little breathing room to your home — because the best thing an item can do is be useful, again and again.”
