SeaLink has joined the AA Member Benefits programme, giving the AA’s 1.1 million members discounts on retail passenger, standard vehicle and motorbike fares on its Auckland services to Waiheke Island and Great Barrier Island.
The discount applies to both foot passengers and vehicles, allowing members to take their car or motorbike across and explore the islands at their own pace, whether for a day trip, weekend away or longer stay.
SeaLink chief executive officer Grady Cameron says the partnership brings together two trusted New Zealand brands with a shared focus on helping people reach the places they love.
“We’re delighted to join the AA Member Benefits programme,” Cameron says.
“It makes exploring Waiheke Island and Great Barrier Island more affordable for 1.1 million New Zealanders, and it puts our services in front of Members who are already planning their next trip.”
AA chief membership and marketing officer Jenni Ryan says the benefit builds on the AA’s existing ferry offering, adding Hauraki Gulf sailings to the member discount already available on Interislander’s Cook Strait crossings.
“We already help Members across Cook Strait with Interislander, so extending that to the Hauraki Gulf was an ideal next move,” Ryan says.
“This one is about short escapes close to home — Waiheke and Great Barrier sit on Auckland’s doorstep, and being able to take a vehicle across at a discounted rate opens up far more of both islands than a day on foot ever could.”
Ryan says the partnership also gives AA members another way to use their membership beyond traditional roadside assistance.
“Partnerships like this one let us keep growing and diversifying what Members can use their Membership for — not just when something goes wrong, but when they’re planning something good.”
