Great Barrier Island – Get ready for an action-packed day on the water this Saturday, June 22nd! The “Tight Line’s Kids Fishing Comp” is back, and it’s shaping up to be a fantastic event. If you haven’t got your tickets yet, now’s the time!
With categories including the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd heaviest snapper under 60cm, longest kahawai, average weight, and mystery weight, there’s a prize for every angler. Plus, there are special categories for the youngest competitors, including the longest yellow tail for under 5s.
The competition is not just about fishing—it’s a fundraiser for Levi’s Pump Track and Kaitoke School, with all proceeds going to support these local causes. Tickets are $20 each, and you can grab them from Kaitoke School, Aotea Beauty, Claris Sports Club, or The Rocks Bottle Shop.
Weigh-in will be at Claris Sports Club from 1 PM to 3 PM, followed by the prize-giving ceremony. No exceptions on the weigh-in, so make sure you’re on time!
A massive shoutout to the incredible sponsors who’ve made this event possible: Weta Workshop, Barrier Burga Shak, ITM, Kaitoke School, Mulberry Grove General Store, and many more.
