Jon Toogood, the renowned frontman of Shihad, has chosen Great Barrier Island as the final stop on his upcoming “Last of the Lonely Gods” tour.
The intimate acoustic performance, scheduled for November 9th at the Claris Sports and Social Club, will showcase Toogood’s first-ever solo album of the same name.
Set for release on October 11th, the album promises a departure from Shihad’s signature rock sound, delving into themes of loss, resilience, and healing through acoustic melodies and personal storytelling.
The tour itself is a journey through the heart of Aotearoa, beginning in Kerikeri on October 11 and covering the length of the country. It features stops at nineteen different venues before culminating here on the Barrier.
Jon Toogood has been a major force in New Zealand music since Shihad’s formation in 1988, with more than 1500 live shows and hundreds of thousands of albums sold worldwide.
His record of five number one albums in Aotearoa is unmatched, making him a living legend in NZ’s music scene.
Tickets go on sale Monday, July 29th at midday through Moshtix.
