A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to support the family of a woman who passed away unexpectedly on Great Barrier Island, just days after Christmas.
The campaign, hosted on Givealittle, aims to raise funds to cover funeral expenses, travel costs, and provide support for the woman’s three children.
“This news has become a shock for all who were close with her!” stated Dannielle Barker, sister-in-law of Te Aranui Carston.
“We are grateful to of had such an amazing holiday with her before her passing. Te Aranui was one of a kind, a great mother, beloved daughter, sibling, and friend.”
The campaign page emphasizes the need to alleviate the financial burden on the whānau. “Her babies, travel and funeral cost, to help take the stress off family and friends,” explains the campaign.
Carston, it’s understood, was visiting whānau on the island.
The campaign has already received support from 17 donors, raising $1,070 towards the $6,000 goal since its launch on December 28th.
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
