Aotea Health, the company that took Great Barrier Island and rongoā Māori to the world through its partnership with Air New Zealand, is expanding again with a new concept store at Auckland International Airport.
Founded by Tama Toki, a former Commonwealth Games athlete and lawyer, the company has grown from its island beginnings to become an international brand. Inspired by the rongoā his grandmother practised on Aotea, its skincare is made using native botanicals including kawakawa, kūmarahou, harakeke and mānuka.
Aotea’s products have already flown around the globe in Air New Zealand’s premium cabin amenity kits. Now, the new airport store gives departing passengers the chance to take them on board themselves.
“We are proud to announce the launch of our second Aotea Concept Store at the Auckland International Airport,” the company said. “We have embraced this opportunity to offer a piece of Aotearoa that we hope our customers can bring and share wherever their travels abroad may take them.”
This is the brand’s second retail site after its Viaduct Harbour flagship. The store is located on Level 2 of the international terminal, after security, and is open daily from 6am to 10pm.
