Ngāti Rehua Ngātiwai ki Aotea has confirmed the final results of its 2025 trustee election, with Fletcher Beazley, Miraka (Shelly) Davies and Judyth Hilton elected to the three available seats.
Beazley led the poll with 426 votes. Davies, also based on Aotea, received 407 votes, and Hilton was elected with 385. The Trust said the final count “remains unchanged.”
In its post-election update, the Trust thanked whānau who took part in the process, saying: “Thank you for the kōrero you shared, the skills and experience you offered and the hopes you expressed for our whānau. It meant a lot to hear the different ways you see yourselves contributing to the future of our iwi. We genuinely hope to keep seeing you involved and showing up in support – there is always room to tautoko here at the Trust.”

The Trust also acknowledged outgoing trustee Marilyn Stephens for her leadership of the Pou Whenua portfolio. The statement highlighted this year’s Taiao Wānanga, which enabled many whānau to visit Rākitu — some for the first time — and collaborative work with DOC to return tieke to the island. It also noted new pathways for taiao mahi, including the Kauri Survey project due to begin in 2026. “Her leadership and dedication have helped shape meaningful opportunities for our people and our whenua. Ngā mihi nui Aunty Marilyn.”
This year’s AGM was held at Kawa Marae on December 5–6, with attendance boosted by a chartered barge bringing whānau over for the weekend. Voting was conducted in person on the Saturday, with proxy voting available under the Trust’s rules.
