Tryphena’s Sunset Lodge hits the market

One of Tryphena’s few full-service accommodation providers, Sunset Waterfront Lodge, has been listed for sale — offering what the agents describe as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to secure an established island business and residence.

Located across two titles at 5 and 11 Mulberry Grove, the property includes the recently built manager’s residence, four studios and five self-contained villas, a laundromat and ice-making business that serves both guests and locals, and a beach hut stocked with water toys for hire. The marquee on the grounds which has been used for weddings, retreats, and special events, is also included.

“The business continues to grow steadily year after year,” Bayleys agent Nadja Court says. “It offers an exciting income stream and an idyllic lifestyle for a couple or family seeking a rewarding change of pace.”

Across the road from Mulberry Grove Beach, the lodge enjoys wide sea views and sunsets over Tryphena Harbour. The property is surrounded by manicured gardens, a large vegetable patch, and free-range chickens that supply fresh eggs daily.

Court said the listing offers “so much more than you can imagine — lifestyle, income, and a genuine sense of place,” adding that Great Barrier Island’s proximity to Auckland and its “untouched, inspiring” environment make it one of the country’s most unique destinations.

Information packs and private viewings are available through Nadja Court at Barfoot & Thompson Real Estate.
