Mitch Brown’s Spirit Unbreakable as He Focuses on Macau Challenge

Just over a year ago, our island celebrated as Mitch Brown achieved his dream of winning gold at the Special Olympics in Germany. Now, Mitch has a new dream on the horizon: competing in the prestigious Macau Golf Masters in September. But he needs our help to get there.

Since his Olympic win, Mitch has faced incredible challenges. Shortly after returning from Germany, his father and coach, Mike Brown, passed away after a short illness. During this difficult time, Mitch was diagnosed with a brain tumor and has undergone surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.

Despite these hardships, Mitch is as dedicated as ever. He recently demonstrated his determination by winning the Club Championships at his home club here on Great Barrier Island.

“Mitch’s spirit remains strong, and he is so determined to return to the form which won him Olympic gold,” said Aimee Brown, Mitch’s sister and primary carer. “Doctors have just cleared Mitch to compete in Macau and we are determined to get him there.”

The costs of travel and accommodation for Mitch, Aimee, and his caddie are more than they can handle alone. They have started a Givealittle campaign to help make Mitch’s dream a reality.

“Please consider donating what you can to support Mitch in realising another of his golfing dreams,” Aimee urges. “The generosity of others has always motivated Mitch and we are so grateful to those who have supported him before.”

Our support will not only help Mitch participate in Macau but will be a source of strength during his difficult journey.
