Aotea residents are encouraged to give feedback on Auckland Council’s review of dog policies and bylaws. One key proposal would see parts of Pā Beach in Tryphena become off-limits to dogs, while Sandhills Reserve may be designated as an off-leash area. “With our precious populations of shorebirds on Aotea, we have to be conscious of balancing the needs of our dogs and dog owners with the conservation of our wildlife,,” says Great Barrier Local Board chair Izzy Fordham. Feedback submissions close on Sunday 23 February 2025.
