Phil Spencer, of Location, Location, Location and Love It or List It fame, is ending his latest series with a bang on Aotea, Great Barrier Island. The grand finale of NZ’s Best Homes will air on July 14, featuring the jaw-dropping Memory Rock beach house on Sandhills Road, Medlands, built by the legendary John Scott of the Great Barrier Building Company.

This isn’t just any beach house. Memory Rock has been featured in multiple magazines and design sites, which credit it as a ‘masterpiece inspired by Medlands Beach itself, with a design that echoes the shoreline’s natural beauty.’

Sandy plaster walls, light timber interiors, and bronze fixtures that look like they were cast from the beach make this house not just sit on the land but be a part of it, according to JCA.

Phil Spencer, always the adventurer, says he can’t contain his excitement about his NZ escapade. “I’m not here to show New Zealanders around New Zealand. I’m here to explore it and have my eyes opened,” he tells NZME. And opened they will be, especially when he lays eyes on Memory Rock.

Memory Rock captures views from every angle – from the wetlands and mountains to the Pohutukawa trees and the ocean. The interior, apparently all about warmth and relaxation, with timber floors and deep eaves that keep the decks cozy in any weather. A “perfect blend of indoor comfort and outdoor splendor”,.

Phil’s appreciation for Kiwi architecture is palpable. He’s wowed by unique designs tailored to the New Zealand lifestyle. “They are built, designed, created, to enable a particular lifestyle, and that’s coming off in waves,” he gushes.

Mark your calendars for the premiere of NZ’s Best Homes with Phil Spencer this Sunday, June 9 at 7:30pm on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+. And don’t miss the grand finale featuring Aotea’s stunning beach house on July 14.
